김지훈 교수는 사회교육과에서 사회학 과목을 담당하고 있는 사회학자이자 동남아시아 전문가이다. 학부에서는 ‘인간과 사회’, ‘사회과학방법론’, ‘이주사회학’,'글로벌 사회의 이해' 등의 과목을 담당하고 있으며, 대학원과 교육대학원(사회교육 전공 및 다문화교육 전공)에서는 ‘질적연구방법론’, ‘이주사회학 연구’, ‘동남아시아사회 연구’ 등의 과목을 강의하고 있다. 주요 연구 분야는 ‘이민/이주/다문화 가족의 가족 관계와 자녀 교육’이다.Ageing and Society, Research in Sociology of Education 등의 국제저명저널에 연구 업적을 발간한 바 있다. Cambridge University Press 에서 발간되는 국제저널인 TRaNS: Trans-Regional and -National Studies of Southeast Asia 에서 Associate Editor를 역임했다. Ageing and Society, Global Networks, Asian and Pacific Migration Journal 등 본인의 전공 분야인 가족학, 글로벌사회 연구와 국제이주연구 분야의 SSCI급 저널에서 심사자로 활동하고 있다. University of Washington Press와 Oxford University Press 등에서 발간하는 학술서에 저자로 참여하고 있다.
